My 15 year old mare has recently developed mild stringhalt. I have been told that a high fat diet and/or vitamin e supplements may help. Do any readers have experience of this please.
My 9 year old gelding also has mild stringhalt. I am afraid I have not had any advice about his diet but we were told to keep him fit and ridden regularly to stop the odd leg action and to make sure he is properly warmed up before schooling/jumping/competing etc. This has worked for us and he has competed ODEs, HTs, SJ and Dressage all with high placings and through the summer when he is ridden 5/6 times a week, there is no evidence of the stringhalt at all. Would be interested to know if the dietary advice is sound though.
