Can stringholt get worse?

I bought a horse a couple of months ago with slight stringholt, passed the vet etc, in the last couple of days it has got so bad the horse can hardly walk and I will definitely not be getting on it as there is no way I would either horse getting worse or hurting me.

I bought this as an experienced sj horse to show me the ropes around the 1.25 plus classes.

Any advice greatly received

Thanks

Get vet I'm afraid, preferably the one that did the vetting. Stringhalt should not suddenly deteriorate IME.

BTW my mare with stringhalt walks it off. If yours is doing it straight out of the stable how is it if walked around for a while / in the field?

Yes, get the vet. My lad's stringhalt has stayed exactly the same since the day I bought him.
Could it be azoturia (tying up?) instead? Symptoms can look very similar and they can have both at the same time.

Thanks for your reply, really worried about horse :(

Left her out over the weekend for a bit of r&r, brought her in from the field and she was definitely not right. :(

Flaming useless phone!

Over this week she has just got worse and worse to the point where she appears to be in so much discomfort - have phoned vet, waiting on call back.

I don't know much about stringholt, but I thought is usually stayed the same for years and didn't detiorate that quickly in such a short space of time.

You let her out? sounds like you have been keeping her in. This makes stringhalt worse!! You need to keep her out as much as possible!

Could it be laminitis? You say she's been out all weekend, do you have a lot of grass? Have a check for pulses. It could not be, just with you saying she had been out all weekend.

I get the feeling this is posted on behalf of someone else relating to an earlier thread that has been pulled....let's sit on our hands for this one

I didn't read another earlier thread so I am thoroughly confused. My advice stands though it's better to keep a horse with stringhalt out
