New horse, x racehorse, very cute wants to learn. has a strong willed-ness about him but overal once he has seen it and understands what to do will do it!

Now, took him at weekend to a place that had both xc and sj jumps to introduce him to jumping poles and ditches etc etc. I have seen photos of him doing baby showjumps so wanted to see how much he knew...

He was very unsure about xc jumps, logs he went over, went in water really well, went down steps brilliantly rest was a NO NO. That is fine though cos early days

Then took him to the sj course and he loved it. No fuss, not scared at all????? (baby sized 2ft high but still)

I thought an inexperienced horse with jumps would prefer to learn more with xc, natural jumps. Shall I leave the xc til later and concentrate on sj type jumps???

If he's happy doing both I'd do a mixture of both, just don't put too much pressure on while he's still young (mentally and physically). IMO it's good to keep them mentally stimulated by giving them new challenges
