Sooo bye bye current pelham! if she doesnt like it in we will have to try something else!

It llooks amazing!!

How does it work?
Im not sure at £65.00 we could buy it on the off chance she doesnt like it though
it certainly worth looking into :D
& there is one on ebay going for £15 ;D
xx

You can hire them to try them out - google "horse bit hire" and lots of places come up that do it, it's normally about £15 to hire it then they knock that off the full price if you keep it. IMO it's worth the £65 because it's like having a tackroom full of different bits!
The mouthpiece is quite mild, but you can experiment with different poll/curb pressure to find what works for your horse.
I use the bottom ring for exciting stuff like fun rides and the normal ring for schooling etc. If he's particularly strong you can put the curb strap on.

I hunted for years a show cob type, was very strong even to lead and turn out. I used a running gag and never had a moment when I didnt have control. Tried a pelham but he couldnt stand the curb action. Just a thought, I know that it is a bit from the past, it suited me and him!

I know how you feel i had a cob with no brakes!

I tried all the bits you have mentioned and out of all of them the cherry roller was best he loved it, but he used to go quite well in a kimblewick too.

hope you find a bit you are both happy with soon.

I used to have my young welshie in a kimbelwick with a port for funrides etc. She learnt how to behave at these things and now I could ride her in a snaffle (if she wasn't pregnant)

I also used a pelham with the same ported mouth piece for showing and it had the same effect. She really seemed to like the port.

I also have a universal gag and a training snaffle by neue schule. They are really good and well worth the money. I bought my universal off ebay for £45.

Try Neue Schule Tranz Universal. I have it for my strong cob and it ace!

It's good 'cos you can use it in so many different ways, like lots of different bits in one.

Ive got one of these bits and for hunting I use the waterford one when he gets strong, it just makes them sit up more and respect then I go back down to the basic when he starts listening to me he hacks out now in a snaffle happy mouth do check everything like you say you are having your teeth done but back is most important as cobs are funny to fit a saddle the ideals are best if you run your hand down his back and it flinshes then its sore cobs sometimes get sore at the back of the saddle as there big shoulders push the saddle back also do loads of transitions you can do this on your hack if you havn't got a school, good luck.

My horse was like that when I first got him. He especially did the head down to the knees and goooo! thing. I suggest a pelham with a ported mouthpiece with a correctly fitted curb chain and two reins. Keep your hands up and work on developing good light hands and a good core stability. Keep a very slight tension on the curb rein but use the snaffle rein as the main rein. My horse is cured of that trait now and with no force or harshness involved just a lot of patience. He now hacks in a NS snaffle but it took a while to bring him to this way.

I had a very big bouncy and ively Shire x mare who I tried everything with. The best I could find was a high ported myler with the independent side action.
They have a massive range and you can hire before you buy.
They were really helpful when I called too.

Ditto every tip here :D
Have we got the same cob ?????

I'm using a Universal, with the tranz lozenge mouthpiece and it is good. I alternate between that and the Verbindend.
We are still working on the 'head between the knees' thing!! sigh....
