Hi, I have just started sharing a lovely but naughty pony. He is a typical cheeky new forest and is a pain, but he is a sweetie and mainly behaves well. I haven't yet taken him in an open field as I have been told he can get very strong and sometimes bolts...but aparantly you are able to stop him fairly easily. I believe he is in a Dutch gag bit. Does anyone have advice on any tack that could help it ways to control strong ponies. He also puts his head down when cantering...I don't mind a lot but I suppose it is a bad habit and could maybe be prevented? Thanks.

Kimberwicks/kimblewicks (never now how to spell them!) can be good for strong ponies….my son used to hunt his 13.2hh in one and was a godsend.
