Sorry, done to death this one, and I have done a search but all threads that have come up are quite old!
Is it still Rambo for the strongest rugs on the market for rug rippers? Or is there something new out there I’m missing before I fork out? Tvm. Xx

Oh you need to put cribox paint on it or something like that, to stop the destroyer 🤣 otherwise you will be buying rugs forever.

I had a similar problem with another horse on the field roof my horse's turnout rugs.

In the end, what I found worked best was to buy a cheap and tough no fill turnout rug, use NAF anti chew spray, and stick that on top of the decent turnout.

Following a tip on here (to stop a tail ripper) our yard has used pure neem oil mixed into vaseline and applied liberally. We coated the tail flaps on the rugs too, Leaves them greasy and messy looking but intact, and the tail ripping stopped.

I’m having success with a Mark Todd turnout. The 1680 d one. Bought for £15 on fb to save his decent rugs and because I wanted to get a non removable neck and no Velcro! This has buckled which the other horse seems bored by! Of course it’s *touch wood the only one that lasted. He’s been wearing it everyday for about a month which is unheard of.

That’s a really good idea. Thank you.

Just stick an old one over the top - my boy wears his very old red lightweight over everything and this has stood up to all sorts and only has a few small holes in it. It protects all of my other rugs but is no longer waterproof.
