have been searching other posts, I need a full length breast bar for my rice trailer
going to get someone to help me make it... but what type of wood shall I use? I would like to know what is the strongest and will last with a big horse leaning on it!? would it need to have a metal covering on it to make it strong enough like my half width ones have.

The breast bar is an essential safety feature. The horse leans on it for balence and it will stop him being thrown forward in an accident. It also acts to preserve the integrity of the trailer if it is turned on its side, protecting the horse inside. I would be very concerned about trying to make one yourself. If it gave way, or failed to protect him in an accident it would disasterous. Can you not get a second hand one if you can't afford a new one?

I have been looking everywhere, contacted a stockist of rice trailer parts and they say they don't have any full length. can only find ifor which wont fit :(
tried Warwickshire trailer with no luck, anyone know anyone else?

Would echo above about not making one yourself. Certainly wood would not be a good choice. Something like heavy-duty box-section steel would be more appropriate. If you really can't find a manufacturer one, you might be able to consult with a suitable tradesperson who does welding and structural work. Maybe somewhere than supplies coachbuilt horseboxes would be able to advise.
