Struggling to work this one out

So I will try and keep this short as possible. Sorry in advance.

I have a tb, he was last shod by my old farrier 8 weeks ago, 4 days previous to this he lost a shoe in the field.
A week later lame, farrier hasn't been out since completely gone off the radar ( he is known to be a good farrier and does get a lot of recommendations) I have asked him to obviously come and see why etc and plus he was 3 weeks overdue ( long toes, walls cracking, clenches rising etc) the foot he was lame on had the shoe removed by a farrier who came to yard as suspected absess has been poulticed very little came out, he's had pulse in this foot all this time.
New farrier came last night re shod
wasn't happy about How lame he was so he took shoes off, horse looked happier and was walking better, more supportive shoe on, horse not happy, nails where placed correctly no nail bind etc. I just don't know what is going on vet is due at our yard soon.
 
Could still be an abcess they can take weeks to come out.

Could be the feet are sensitive and sire from being left 8 weeks then shod.

Any sign of laminitis they can get it in 1 foot?
 
They can definitely get sore from going too long without shoeing as the hoof grows over the shoe (I'm sure other reasons associated with this). One arrived at our yard a month ago, was shod 2 weeks ago (very late) and was sore before and after shoeing. But was ok within a few days. I'm not saying don't use the vet, but if one wasn't coming out personally I would wait a few days and see if it settles.

No signs of laminitis but will keep this in mind

This is what we are hoping that it settles over the next few days .
 
I’d want a vet to X-ray immediately. Not faff about with bute and rest etc. I only say this as it’s how a friends horse was going..on and off worse and better blablabla. Eventually after 3 vet visits and multiple farrier visits they xrayed and he has a keratoma. I’m not saying yours will because it’s very rare but it’s best to just go in hard at the start and see what can be found.
 
My tb was lame on front right. Couldn't find anything. Farrier came and removed shoe. We poultice for a few days and nothing. Then Farrier found the tiniest corn. He feathers the shoe over the corn and packed it with cotton wool. Horse immediately sound.
 
Could it be a bruise that you cannot see or lami? One if mine had both recently. Never before had lami, not overweight, no raging pulse but faint sign on the hoof. He was very lame on it . I bought therapy hoof boots and pads to ensure he was well cushioned and we are now seeing positive results. Vet said lots of unusual lami about this year.
