Stubben Equi Soft dressage girth

I’ve just bought an Equi soft stubben dressage girth second hand. I can’t see how I wash the sheepskin insert / liner? It detatches by Velcro but it’s soft leather backed which I didn’t expect. So presumably can’t go in machine on wool wash?

I can’t find online washing instructions anywhere.

thanks
Sorry can't help with your query but how is your horse going in your new girth? I'm considering getting one.

He’s not currently going (sore feet).

I borrowed a 70cm non sheepskin version which he seemed to like.

i ordered a second hand 75cm sheepskin version that arrived yesterday but not used it yet.

just panicking re how to wash it.

will update when sore feet pass ?

I used to wash pure sheepskin mattes pads with Nuuwash on a very gentle wash (in HHE washing machine) , then when I took it out of the wash fluffed the fluff up by hand and leave to dry naturally away from heat. You just need a non soap detergent specifically for sheepskin/wool. I assume you can do exactly the same with your girth thingie.

I’m happy washing sheepskin girth covers / numnahs etc. But the underside of the Equi-soft seems to have actual soft leather covering the sheepskin part per my photos above.

If I damage it they are £120 for the liner / pad part alone and girth doesn’t work without a liner (basic is leather), so hoping for reassurance someone else has put the item in my photo above in the wash successfully ??

That's why you need a soap free detergent specifically for sheepskin, as that won't damage it. Have a quick Google and you'll find some.

Or if you're still unsure, email Stubben and they will be able to advise.

Thanks I have messaged and emailed stubben.

I have been successfully washing sheepskin previously but this Girth cover structure has a lot more actual leather in it hence being worried washing machine might damage it. Hence trying to find how others got on washing this?

Hi there. I’m about to bite the bullet and get an equisoft GP girth for my boy. I’m edging towards the sheepskin liner - did you find out if it can be machine washed?

Also, how did you find it for size? I read a review that recommended sizing up?

I think I washed it in hair conditioner in the sink but not washing machine.

I think girth was true to size for me.

I sold it one as wasn’t convinced was any better than my prolite.
