Hi All,

I've just bought a stubben saddle, I believe the colour is havanna -it's that cherry red colour so is that right first of all!? I'm looking for some stirrup leathers to match but I'm struggling!

I'm not sure on the length that I need, mine at present at 58" but are far too long for me, im about 5'5, I keep seeing stubben as either a 52" or a 58". Is the 52" a childs/ponies size? or small adult?

Does ayone know how to actually work out what size you need and if I'm even looking at the right colour!!

Help much appreciated! Why are simple tasks so damn hard!!:(

The Stubben cherry red colour is called havana, which causes a little confusion because every one else's havana is dark brown. Stubben's dark brown colour is called chocco, which would semi match to everyone else's havana.

It appears that Stubben only do leathers at three lengths:
Extra Long - 62"
Standard length - 58"
Pony length - 52

If you can't get the length you want you may find that other companies will do the length you ewant & their colour may be something like 'nut' 'oak bark' or similar.

I have a pair of the shorter leathers which are long enough for me (32/33 inches inside leg) on the bottom holes. I find them useful on dressage saddles as you can put the buckle down by the stirrup and you don't have lots of extra strap flapping about.
They are the same width and leather weight as the longer ones, just shorter.
I have found them exceptionally good stirrup leathers - very hard-wearing, comfortable and not too prone to stretching.

check with Stubben on the colour - I have 'choco' ones which are the dark brown.

Bates Havana will match too - i know because i ended up buying a Stubben havana bridle as it was the only bridle i could find to match the reddy brown Bates!

I'd buy the shortest ones you can as my Stubben leathers have stretched beyond belief!

Oh no don't tell me this! lol

Thanks for all the help guys, very much appreciated!

The havana on the first link was far too dark but thanks for looking. Stubben do seem to want to confuse me with their colours and all the sites selling stubben seem to have difference sizes and colours!!

I've rang a few places now Re prices but I'm quite swayed by the bates ones I think, that colour would match quite well I think. I've got a John W bridle which matches the saddle (and horse!) really well but I didn't want all my tack to be different makes really!

Shame I'm a short arse with a semi ginger oss!
