Can anyone explain the sizing for Stubben saddles?
What is a 28, 29 or 30 inch? Does that equate to narrow, medium or wide etc.
Ideally I want a wide so what size would that be?
Thanks in adance for any input!!!!

As with any saddle its important to get it fitted to your horse, not just buy a wide because your horse is a wide, as many brands vary GREATLY in dimesions a wide in one brand could be a few inches wider than a wide in another brand.

For a more accurate guess , but still not ideal I would ask for the gullet measurement of the saddle, that way you can work out what size your horse should need.

Not sure about stubben sizing though.

I have been in this dilema to with stubben sizing, 28 is the narrow going upto 32 which is wide these are standard sizes although you can get wider ones specially made.

My horse has a 32 which is a wide, although we must remember that a stubben wide is not really that generous in width.

Their is a very helpfull seller on e bay that has lots of stubben saddles in stock, so i actually faxed her a template of my horse over to her and she fixed me up with a saddle.

When the saddle came , i got a uk saddler to fit it and it needed some slight adjustment to the flocking but she was spot on with the sizing, PM me if you want her web site address

You have a good answer in Competition Riders. And as I mentionned there, I can help if you are after a nice 2nd hand 27 (narrowest)

Tree width
The tree width depends on the type of horse and its wither and back.
27 to 28,5 cm high, narrow wither (narrow shoulder)
29 to 30,5 cm medium-high to normal wither (normal shoulder)
31 to 32 cm flat, wide wither (wide shoulder)
