Interested in this girth because of the reviews online but those are from places that sell the girth. It looks like it might bunch up e.g. at the top near the saddle flaps because there is no structure to hold it flat - anyone tried it?

It was the only girth that worked well for my girl. I still have the girths so hoping to use them for my new one.

I've used one for years on my mare, coupled with a big sheepskin girth sleeve as that's the only combo that she'll tolerate! Never have any bunching up problems with it.

I have one for mine, he goes really well in it and there are no bunching issues. It does shrink in the wash so getting it back on when clean can take time. I've not figured out the right temperature obviously.

All the RDA horses at my local group have them too, and there are no issues there either on a very wide range of shapes and girth groove widths. Not that the work they do is usually fast.

I love mine, I have the dressage version now but used the normal long one in the past. No bunching issues. I'd suggest hand washing and then hanging it from both sets of buckles so that you don't stretch nor shrink it. They always come up looking brand new after a wash.

Thanks for the washing tips.

My pony is only 13hh, with a forward girth groove so was warned the Stubben one may bunch up behind his elbow. I bought the one from Kramer instead as its narrower. It's lovely and soft, and keeps the saddle surprisingly stable.

I have one which I used on a horse who used to get rubbed but normal girths and another who had a really forward girth groove - great for this. I would use it again now for horse I have now except its simply the wrong colour and doesnt match her tack (Black/brown) but Ill never sell it as its so useful.

Thanks all, can you attach a breastplate to them? (Imagining you can just clip it around the front couple of strings?)

If you are using your breastplate to assist in keeping the saddle/girth forward and as such putting strain through the girth attachment then I would not do this as the girth has not been designed to take force in that direction. Much safer to use a girth loop.

I recommend them all the time, . Downsides:

They will roll/fold/pinch in a very "pouchy" girth groove.

They can't be used on adjacent girth straps as the buckle attachments are too wide.

They should not be used with a martingale/breastplate in my opinion, no matter the attachment.

Edited to add - if others are using them successfully with a loop then I'd say proceed with caution, not sure I'd recommend it, still.

Use these girths all the time but would definitely not attach a breastplate using a couple of strings . Girth loop for sure.
