Does anyone use the Stubbs Saddle Minder or similar (anything that allows your to padlock your saddle to the rack...)? Any thoughts on its value? Any reason why it wouldn't fit certain makes of saddle?

Thanks in advance!

If you have a particularly pronounced cantle or very deep seat - like an older style dressage saddle - the top section hinge won't close without biting down onto the cantle and damaging it. I suspect a western saddle won't fit either - but I haven't tried.

We did have them - they are absolutely useless in preventing theft. It will simply unscrew from the wall or come apart with force. But they do help if all you are trying to do is stop something being accidentally "borrowed" by a colleague - or for that matter knocked off the rack.

If you want something to prevent theft the bulldog saddle rack is unparalleled here http://www.bulldogsecure.com/view/bulldog-sl850-saddle-stop-wall-bracket/155

Correctly fitted there is absolutely no way to get the saddle out. We used them on all ours now - having lost a number of saddles secured in stubbs racks during a break in some years ago.
