Does anyone have any advise on my part bred 6 year old arab mare?
She is a fun loving mare who i love dearly, but her stuborness is driving me nuts!
Where do i start, back in early spring having moved her into the summer field with the 5 other horses that she is kept with. When bringing her into the yard from the field she went beserk rearing and pulling away kicking out at me and as a resuly breaking 2 of my fingers. I now bring her in with her bridle and have had no problems since and putting it down to the spring grass (have also brought her in with headcoller and has been fine since then as well)
Sometimes, not all the time and in different locations, but when riding her out i will mount her go down the drive get to the gate onto the road and she point blancs refuses to go forward walking backwards and bucking out trying to walk into the other persons horse i am out riding with until she is tucked up behind them. Now the other person i am hacking with will stand back far enough until she has had her hissy fit and then she will proceed forward and will then go really well and lead the ride. Sometimes she will go the whole ide infront with no problems and then other times she might have another hissy fit and we go through the whole routine again.
She also behaves like this in the school. Sometimes she is great and other times she doesn't.It seems to happen when she doesn't want to do it she creates.
Have tried the magic instant calmer, worked a bit, but not sure calmer is what she needs.
I have also noticed she doesn't come into season that regularaly, and it's been about 6 weeks since her last one.
I have read that this can contribute to difficult behaviour and cause pain in the ovaries.
The vet is coming out in a couple of weeks for vacinations so i will speak with him then about it. But in the meantime was woundering if anyone else has had similar problems.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.X
