Stuck in a rut! How to keep motivated!

I adore my pony very much and we have great bond. I always feel that I don't use him to his full potential. He's a great wee jumper and does well in the show ring but I never have enough time to spend with him. I was wondering if anyone had any hints or tips to share to keep us both motivated. Eg school work, hacking etc I tend to go through phases of rising often then not riding at all! With the winter coming up I need some sort of schedule! Any ideas?

What are you wanting to work towards or achieve, eg, what level of dressage or height jumping, do you have particular issues which need sorting or areas which need improvement. I find its easier to work towards a specific end goal and have lots of steps (mini goals) on the way and plan sessions specific to getting there.

I would like to work towards some dressage competitions and to raise my jumping height. I've get a few lesson but Struggle to incorporate what I've learned into my own routine, I always feel I'm not doing it correctly!
