Just interested in other peoples opinions. I have had 2yo filly who is out over night and in about 6 hours a day due to foot/leg problems. She is on a handful or so of Hifi twice a day so i can give her supplements etc and it keeps her quiet at feed times.

Recently I noticed her eating mud so decided to put her on Baileys stud balancer to give her a boost of anything she needed, very aware she is growing fast etc.

Anyway literally overnight she has turned into a terror. Having been incredibly laid back and taking life in her stride (including first being shod at 1 1/2!! for veterinary purposes), seeing the vet every couple of weeks, endless xrays etc, box rest for 8 weeks etc etc ... well she has never been a problem. Literally in the last week (since being on stud balancer) she is difficult to lead, completely full of beans, throwing herself about everywhere, leaping through the air at the end of the leadrope, caprioles etc, shoulder barging, striking out in the box, you name it she is doing it... all i might add in a playful way and far enough away not to pose a danger as such. She is also i would say much more 'fidgety' in the box - less willing to settle down, generally a bit obstinate, and rather bolshy!

Interested to know if anyone has had similar experiences on balancers and whether she just feels 'well' or whether as she has just turned two i am about to start the terrible toddler tantrums!!

Have taken her straight off balancer and don't worry she is being disciplined, boundaries being set etc!!

Thanks in advance

Its possible that her quiet behaviour was down to lack of something and now she feels well this is her norm ?

What rebels said. Also spring grass is changing very quickly at the moment, and she is at a teenage stage of her development.
I do believe you when you say the timings match up with the stud balancer, but I can't think of anything in it that would cause this behaviour, unless it was very sugary?

Perhaps try someone else's stud balancer, like top spec?
