Has anyone used the baileys stud balancer?

if so how did you find it? did it work for your horses?

I have been advised that Inky needs more protein and i contacted baileys and they advised to feed this but i am alittle concerned re the protein content but they said not to worry about that, just wondered if anyone had any feedbacK?

i used it on my mare this year mainly because she is a good doer so wanted to give her what she needed for foal without pilling weight on to her, she has done really well on it i would use it for her again
 
I used it on my mare while she was pregnant as she's a very good doer and I had to watch her weight, but still wanted to make sure she was getting everything she needed. She stayed on it when the foal was born and she was lactating and the foal is now on it aswell. They're both doing really well on it. I'm also using it on another horse who been ill with an infection and was on heavy antibiotics. She lost some condition while she was off so I've put it on her just to give her a boost and help her recover. You only need to use a small amount to get good results.
 
I use it on my 2yo colt, my foal, and my mare who is foal !! its fantastic - know lots of people who have used it to who all think the same !! its expensive for a bag but you dont actually feed that much of it xxx

Would echo everything that has been said ... my ISH mare is an incredibly good doer, and I did quite a bit of research with the different feed companies when she was in foal. Baileys were by far the most helpful, and wrote me a long letter about feeding mare and foal (as his sire is WB, I was very paranaoid about OCB).

My mare has really thrived on the Stud Balancer, and we have just started giving the foal small quantities before weaning. I would plan to keep him on just forage and the Balancer after weaning, as he is a big boy, and I don't want him overfed or going through mega growth spurts! Balancer seems ideal for that. Both mare and foal are in really good condition, and she has kept her topline amazingly well. I would really recommend it!
 
I have had my 2 year old on it since he was a weanling and he has grown beautifully!! Always kept the right weight and yet grown really well...I have also got 2 mare's in foal for next year and whilst they are still living out on grass at the moment, they will be put straight onto it once they start coming in at night.
 
USed it for the mare about 3 months before she gave birth, and she and the foal are still on it. Foal's leg were growing incorrectly causing her to look pigeon toed at about 10 days of age, farrier has sorted that and no problems since, she gets the recommended daily amount for her age/type.
 
Bloss has it as shes a fatty (!!) and is looking really good on it. Shes 6months in foal now and has been on it for around 7months as i introduced it to her a month before she was AI'd.

Archie is now on it aswell, as a balancer to go alongside his endurance mix he has because he was lacking in vits and mins. Baileys advised me to feed this to him. Hes been on it a week now and is much perkier already!!

I just bought my first bag today! It cost £14 approx and I spoke to Baileys who were very helpful. I have an ID mare who is a good doer and I just wanted her to have more minerals and vitamins. She is 5 months in foal and is living on good quality hay, two very small feeds night and morning with handful of hifi and cool cubes. Glad all the feedback is good, don't need a anything that will encourage weight gain or send her nuts!

PS I am new to forum and have tried to post a query about my mare but don't seem to be able to do it - what does it mean when it goes on about questions and options /radio buttons, I think I must be thick or something!
 
Another convert here, Asti is still out 24/7 and gets 2 mugfuls of this per day with a lo cal chaff and some garlic/parsley/linseed oil. She's maintaining her weight nicely so for the £15 ish, it lasts ages.

Once they come in she'll be upped to a bit of baileys economy mix too but still not huge amounts, she's doing nicely on what she's on with a decreased but not stopped excercise regime.
