So basically its just speaking about how he is similarly bred to Cumano........but nothing about him himself, other than he has unquestionable beauty, agility, movement and jump................its saying nothing about whether he has been graded, or anything of that sort??

Possibly it is but it still seems outrageous when you consider that US$2000 is a pretty handsome monthly salary out here and full livery at the Jockey Club is US$130 per month.
There's a 4 y.o hannoverian stallion at stud here (owner approached me for PF) whose fee is US$500 which seems much more logical
I think perhaps it has more to do with Cassano belonging to a popular, successful stud and clever marketing although I don't deny he's all the things they say about him (beautiful, athletic, etc). I'd like to have seen more of him and his youngstock before they put his fee to that level though.

Exchange rate is good though so that makes it about £500. There is always a chance taken in any breeding and you need to consider compatibility in pedigree and form to your mare and factor in costs of getting the semen to your mare and the costs of the proceedure. But if he starts his career promisingly you could be ahead of the game in offering his offspring when he is on the rise and make a real killing. You'll have to get your marketing right but it could be a good move.

If you mare has performance and or an impressive pedigree ask for a consession and point out you can offer a bit of help marketing him in the UK. This will help you too, a few articles here and there will raise awareness and get people interested in him and more importantly your foal, that is if you are going to sell it!

Get bargaining!

Back to Cassano who is by Cassini, sire of the current WEG SJ champion, Cavalor Cumano.
Cassano is 3 (so not competing) and in his 1st season as a sire. Is the stud fee of US$1000 (mare scanned in foal at 3mths) not a wee bit steep?

[/ QUOTE ]wow i would say with that breeding no ~im a big fan of cassini I and II and cumano id say even though 3 with that breeding it will go on and have a sucsessful career

Although in the top pic one of his forelegs looks a bit odd...

LMAO!!! They don't look a pair at all do they!! It HAS to be the picture!!!! A stud like that wouldn't have a stallion with one unright leg and one backwards (poss. back at the knee) leg......... Also he's 30 day sperformance tested - so HAS to be the pic!
