Stud guard help needed!which are best?

im looking at ordering a stud guard for my horse for next season. Are the stud guards that are detatchable (like the shires one)that attach to your normal girth any good?If i went for a non detachable are the synthetic ones any good?Thanks

I had a stud guard plate like the one youre describing and although girthed properly it slipped to the side when doing xc, i can only think due to her galloping action ,my poor mare had the mother of all rubs under her leg and a small one on her belly, binned it the minute i noticed it and got a stud girth, id never use one again

Thanks for your reply.I thought they might slip.Is it worth trying a synthetic stud guard girth?or should i just go for leather?is there any good ones anyone can recommend?Thanks

They can range from £100 + i got mine on ebay for £20 its done the business with no probs
