I'm wondering if anyone uses a Stud Guard or Stud Guard Girth and can make any recommendations. And a question how do you attach a running martingale ?

I've got a John Whittaker one and its nice and soft. The one thing is to check the martingale attachment, mines has got a piece of leather which you put thru the end of the martingale and do up with a buckle which I think is a lot safer than the ones with a billet as less likely to come undone. Other makes use a metal clip which also looks more secure than the billet

Ive got a comort zone one!! its so asy and you just shove it in the skin and give it a scrub and it goes up lovely!! the martingale on this one is a velco strap but has never come undone unless its been done up the wrong way as it was in the SJ at aldon this year!!

I have one that just slides onto my normal girth, it was £15 from Ebay and is fab! I like it because it does not hang down like some do, mine also has a leather strap to attach the martingale.

I got a french made guard, beautiful leather & extremely well made. It had a slighy mark therefore a second & I got it very cheap from a seller on Ebay. It has a stainless steel ring on it for the martingale to fit to. We modified our martingale to have a clip on so we can easily attach & remove the martingale from it. (It's great when wife is a qualified bridle stitcher by trade)

I have 20+ stud guards in all different sizes LOL! Erm, I haven't really found any really bad ones TBH. I think one of the most hard wearing ones i have is a crappy shires one, i bought it at a show for £30 as I had forgot my girth (what a fool) and it was the cheapest one they had! I have used it for hunting and xc and it is very tough and hard to destroy!!!
Amerigo are amazing, but it breaks my heart when I take it off and they have actually scratched it with a stud lol!!! Prestige are good and have quite a large protective area. My JHL one is great, it is really easy to clean and hard wearing but it does not cover a very large area. I bought a nice one off ebay made out of calf skin, it had no name on it but it is beautiful and soft but quite thin, it has the elastic at the elbows instead of the buckles which I have found to be great. I have an equiport one with removeable sheepskin lining. It cost a lot and It is not my favourite girth, it is very hard to keep clean and I always find there is a lot of sand in the sheepskin under the girth when I take it off, I think this is when they take off and stretch the flap comes out a bit and it all drops down??? My jaguar one is extremely pretty and feels nice on the inside but it is a little stiff (it is quite thick), it offers great protection however but when they stud it, it marks really bad as the colour is painted on not dyed in, so scratch marks are very visable. I think the selleria equipe one is my favourite for all round ease and comfort/protection
