my 16.2 has recently had stud holes put in his shoes
what size and kind of studs do people use . I know the basics just want recommendations of good value studs that people like
shall I buy a kit or make my own up ?

I tend to make up my own as I prefer better quality than you tend to get in kit for tools.
Hard ground you need short pointy wedge of cheese shape. As a rule, as ground gets softer you need longer studs.
1 vs 2 per shoe and front / rear tends to be personal choice. Dressage and stud front and hind, jumping just hind.
