What do you have in your pockets and how do you stop it from falling out? I can see mine getting quite crowded potentially...

Or is everyone a saddlebag afficionado?
 
The old tradition in hunting was: "cut, tie and buy". (ie a knife, a length of bailer twine and some money).

These days I also carry a mobile (which should only be used by members of the field in an emergency) and bandages. A stock will do at pinch, but a proper bandage is so much better.
 
Thank you. How about stuff for eating and drinking? I seem to remember people praising pork pies, sausages in foil, flapjacks, plus various concoctions for hipflasks...

And how do people avoid losing the keys to the horsebox or car out hunting?

I have never carried food. Can't be bothered. If you do, make sure that you don't lose the litter (easy to stuff it into a pocket and then pull it out with something else later). Hip flask is fine. It is considered polite to offer it around if you take a swig, even, or perhaps especially, if you don't know the people standing next to you.

Securing your keys to your person is the best bet. Do not leave them secreted somewhere about the vehicle or trailer. The thieves who target meets know that trick only too well.
 
A lot of hunt coats have those flap pockets inside the flaps of the coat at the front, which you can then stuff full of food and bits and pieces! I don't have them unfortunately, so I carry the bare minimum: small pocket knife, baler twine, mobile, photocopied extract of map if I don't know the country. Very occasionally a piece of chocolate biscuit cake or something similarly high calorie for the size! Alcohol is definitely not an essential - too much and I have a hangover by the end of the day! My keys are in the zip pocket of my breeches. I wouldn't buy breeches unless they had a zip pocket for that reason. I hope to goodness hubby doesn't read this, but I did lose my keys last season when I forgot to zip the pocket up.
 
I only carry cap money, a couple of quid for the raffle, afolding hoof pick, a mobile (for 999's), a piece of baler twine and my hipflask

never had any problems with stuff falling out unless i've fallen off (and even then, only the change and the hoofpick.). Put your mobile in the inside pocket!
 
I have lots in my pockets when I go ..... hip flask, packets of sweets, and other food ... sausage rolls, lots of choccy etc, :o mobile phone (keys are hidden in the trailer if not parked on the road) tissues, folding hoof pick and money!

I bulge a bit when I'm starting off but I have eaten most of it (edible stuff) by the time I have finished :)

My pockets (hunt coat and waistcoat) had a hanky, hipflask, cell phone, cigarettes, lighter, chocolate, ... and a knife, somewhere in the lining.

At one time, one pack I hunted with had an enterprising follower who used to sell bacon rolls at whatever covert we were at, absolute saviour.

I know .... I gave up smoking a year ago but I still want a smoke when we have breaks.. so I eat :o if I don't have something to eat I would have to munch on the phone!! (rather than smoke again :) )
 
I've modified the flap pocket of my jacket with a piece of velcro to keep stuff inside. Has worked so far........

I carry hipflask, knife, baler twine, lipbalm, phone and lorry keys.

Boo to the snow, we've lost our meet tomorrow (well mounted anyway)
