Following on from the top ten thread... What do you have that has never been used or used once and has been gathering dust since

Mine are:

Goat hair body brush - its bleeding useless even when pony was freshly clipped

Hock boots

Tendon boots

Sock whitening paste

Various tail bandages

Heavyweight turnout - it was expensive so hopefully will be used at some point!

Velvet browband

Rope halter

Fly bonnet

There is loads more i am sure! When i got the ponies I went through a 'buy at least one of everything in the shop' phase

Yup, this is the reason for the other thread! Thermatex never used!! Don't think I can part with it though! Hi Viz over reach boots! Numnahs galore oh and about fifty haynets!

I love my late gelding thematex rug!

Lots of lotions and potions all now out of date un-opened and un-used, headcollars, velvet show rug, a few numnahs, brushing boots....

I bought a heavyweight turnout once because I wanted the free headcollar that went with it....(tack shop offer)

I have never used it and I doubt I ever will as the thickest weight rug my horse wore last winter was a medium weight.

At the moment he is wearing a sheet with a light weight turnout rug with fill on top, and he is fully clipped. He is a very hot horse and realistically will probably never wear a heavyweight unless I move to Antarctica!

About 30 rugs, knee boots, haynets bandages galore, haygain steamer, 2 ideal jumping saddles, 2 ideal dressage saddles, show saddle, leather head collars, ragwort fork - no ragwort where i am now, so many lead ropes and hoof picks its untrue, hoof oil, shampoo, nose nets, fly masks, ..... oops

I've found with Thermatex you just have to use them - i spent too long just looking at them and not using them! They wash so well there is no reason just to keep them for 'best'

HA! I feel amazing now - thank you :D

!

I sniggered at that sorry!

I know what you mean about the heavyweight, mine looks like the sort of thing you'd sleep under in an ice hotel

Travel boots (I use brushing and overreach boots instead), showing cane (have shown once and withdrew from the class after about five minutes), various lotions and potions in the first aid kit. I've got a bridle that's never been used because it doesn't fit. Most other things have been used at some point, so they were useful once!

I'd happily get rid of all this redundant stuff if it wasn't such a hassle!

When I brought my boy (15 years ago) he came with a heavy weight t/o, which he has never worn - apart from last September 2012 when my "friend" who was looking after him thought it would be a good idea to turn him out in it, when he was Unclipped, the temperature was about 10 degrees and she couldn't understand why I blew a gasket. The only reason I have kept it is because I just think when he is old he may need the extra warmth.

I bought new rugs for my boy, but he has never worn any as he just hasn't needed to yet and has grown a lovely coat.however the one luxury was a John Whittaker padded head collar. My husband always struggled to work out which way up the old one went, but he's safe with this one as it has John Whitaker written across the nose!

travel boots........... we never ever go anywhere,
travel rug...... see above
rug s from ebay
a big horn western saddle........it has been on once and never again. it is now gathering dust in my workshop

Beautiful Masta full neck heavyweight - it's so heavy weight I can barely lift the blasted thing!

About 3 bridles, including double, bits, more grooming kit than the local riding schools combined, schooling aids, old NZ rugs (you know the green jute ones...), stirrups, half broken whips, lotions and potions, brushing boots, turn out boots, numnahs, saddle clothes, 5 Boett rugs from old RIP horse.

And I could go on.....probs need a clear out! Local charity will be happy :-)
