Hi guys, pony felt a bit off before Christmas so I had all the checks done, teeth, feet, back, saddle and bit. Everything that needed fixing has been fixed but she's still not right. Have I missed anything?

She goes out and has ad lib hay and a lo cal balancer so she's not just fizzy. My RI has been riding her and she agrees shes still not right, thinking about trying a strong valerian calmer and if no change in her sending her to be scoped for ulcers because it's only when she's being lunged or ridden.

Thanks for any suggestions! I'm really racking my brains for anything left to check

insane over reactions, not settling, not listening ect. general naughtiness but she's not getting better even when she's being ridden by a pro

Have there been any new additions to the yard or who shes turned out with? Is it when shes taken away from 'the herd' or do you think it's because she's being worked? How long does she get turned out for? Difficult to suggest anything really without seeing the behaviour. I've added salt and brewers yeast to my mares diet which seems to have settled her a bit.

Not to scare you but my gelding had been showing some anxious and evasive behaviour since the end of last year. People kept saying it was spring grass, him trying his luck, being fizzy etc as he wasn't lame and looked to be moving well. the saddle fitter even told me he needed a psychiatrist! I just felt it was something else and got vet to check. Turns out he has sacroiliac pain and associated muscular back pain! I feel so bad. If you are in any doubt, get your girl checked out by a vet.

Have you had a proper physio to him? Also try lunging in a small circle on a hard surface - my girl has been rather difficult bringing her back into work, I was sure there was somethign not right despite being told she just didn't want to start working again, when the physio saw her she was sound in a straight line and on a school surface but a small circle on a hard surface showed a front leg lameness which following x-rays has turned out to be false ringbone causing pain but the lameness is very subtle and only realyl visible on the small circle (very little response even on flexion tests) so I would second the vet check

Could it be hormonal? My friend had a mare whose behaviour went badly "off" to the point of being dangerous. Turned out she had an ovarian cyst which was sending her hormones all over the place. Once it had been removed, she was fine.

Hi no new additions, she's turned out for two hours a day with the same mare. It's the same routine she's been in since they came in from he summer fields.

And yes she's had two different physios, her usual one and another for a second opinion.

Think I'll ring the vets, I wasn't using this forum as a substitute for a professional option. Just seeing if there was something routine I've missed before racking up vets bills. Thanks for everybodys suggestions :)
