Pointless rant, sorry, but this is really irritating me!

If I see one more ad describing a horse as 'stunning' I'm going to scream. If you believed the ads about 75% of equines are 'stunning'.

Please, if you are going to advertise your horse, dig out a dictionary and find another word as it is getting ridiculous! Why be so boring and unimaginative - and pointless as 'stunning' is so over-used it is now meaningless.

Stunning is in the eye of the beholder, however I have several stunning horses

My cob's stunning. He's stunned me several times. But now I've learned to duck when he swings his great ugly mug round in my direction .......

Because I am bored, with nothing better to do, I have made a list of words that can be used instead of 'stunning', how about:-

Dramatic
Astonishing
Gorgeous
Eye-catching
Striking
Noticeable
Attention-grabbing
Startling
Dazzling
Astounding
Remarkable
Wonderful
Incredible
Staggering
mind-blowing
mind-boggling

So I have decided that all my horses are not STUNNING they are in fact Attention-grabbing, Mind-boggling, Dazzling, Staggering horses.

Oh good, cos said cob staggers pretty effectively as well. Particularly when his mind is on something other than walking.
Also, I have just brought him in from the field and astonishing and mind boggling would also be good ways to describe him, mud-wise.
However, he is wonderful, really truly, and dependable and trustworthy and all the things that money can't buy.
Handsome is as handsome does, say I.

Know where you're coming from - I have seen some complete CRITTERS described as 'stunning'. People just don't seem to be able to see their horses faults. We have 5 horses/ponies - we have two that will show at County Level, however the only one of mine I would call 'stunning' is my daughter's dun jumping pony!

My gelding is all of the above , my filly is in the spirit of halloween and is being a witch, don't think that would be appropriate in a for sale ad mind probaly wouldn't get many calls!!

I like, 'manners to burn'
What a load of rubbish. My horse has manners, lots of them, almost exclusively bad, including belching, which no right minded horse would do yet he seems to enjoy to the full.
Manners to burn indeed.

Nice one Ashgrove and Rowreach!

thanks all for giving me a giggle...horsey ads are so full of cliches!

'Potential' is another good one - as you say, they often seem to be at an age where if they had a talent, they'd be famous by now.

I'm intrigued by 'suit rider coming off ponies'. Do they mean a 'dead quiet first horse', or 'this thing is half mad so if you're just getting promoted from charging round like a loony on a hairy little bonkers wotsit, you might not notice, whereas an adult would have too much sense to buy this.'
