My friend has just had to retire her horse so we have started looking at adverts

I haven't looked for many years but nearly everything seems to be 'stunning' ! Is this the new buzz word for horse ads ?

Lots of them definitely don't look 'stunning '

Plus lots and lots of over bent horses in pictures

Videos of manic on the forehand trotting while over bent with some sort of wailing music going on

She is just after a nice RC sort , or doesn't have to be 'stunning' 😧

Saw a great advert today which essentially said the stunning horse was much reduced (price on ad 7k) as now out of work but it was worth 7k when it was at a pro's yard but it had no viewings. Is it me? First pic was over the stable door with a rug on as well!

I do often find myself stunned at some adverts is that what they mean?
 
The word stunning puts my teeth on edge. I also saw an advert a few days ago with a picture of a horse lying down why would you put it on an advert it's pointless.

To be fair there are other pics in the appy ad! Shame that's the cover one. And agree stunning is totally subjective... and brings to mind these translations of horse adverts we've all seen..

STUNNING- Regularly drops you on your head so you see stars

BRAVE OVER FENCES - hold on tight
TALENTED - This horse has a talent, I just don't know what it is yet
JUMPS FOR FUN - You may need secure fences

True and I do agree, although it is a little annoying after a while. I never phone POA (on the basis if I have to ask I can't afford it) or "no dreamers/timewasters"

I had a bigger issue with reading a great ad and thinking "wow"... and then seeing a set of pictures which bore no resemblance to the horse described.!
 
Another pet peeve for sales ads... THE VIDEO. Like.... does it do anything OTHER than canter on the right lead to a 2' square oxer? If I see it do that once, I don't need to see the same thing 5 times. Maybe try another gait, lead, jump... anything?!?
 
Last time I was looking to buy I found a video of a little black cob strutting his stuff around a school. The soundtrack to the video was 'Whisky in the Jar'. The music went so well with this little chap I damn near bought him.
 
Not that I'm in the market for a horse, but if I was, I'd go so far as to avoid an ad containing the word 'stunning'. I loathe it with a passion.

Maybe it was stunned rather than stunning and that's why it was lying down? :D
 
What about "three balanced uphill paces". Looking at the photos I see horses well behind the vertical and a rider with such low hands the horse is forced into an awful outline. I'm sure some see the phrase and think that sounds good I think I'll use it. Waiting for a "two balanced paces"!

I just mentioned this on another thread. A horse hunting friend has recently sent me a stream of ads for me to give my opinion on and every single one was described as stunning but none of them were. She's not even looking for a stunning horse, just a nice sensible average reasonably priced one. She was also put off looking at one very average cob because the seller was asking for a 5* home for it - she didn't think they'd sell it to her because she's just a normal owner with an ordinary good sized field of her own and stables but nothing 'flash' or high end about the set up. When I looked the seller is a dealer and every horse was needing a 5* home but I bet they get stuck in an auction if she hasn't sold them after a few months
