Ok so I have the 4 double clears in BN and Disc

So looking at summer venues are these really all the 2nd rounds BN that are offered???

British Novice Regional Finals
Kingswood 17th May
Patchetts 24th May
Bold Heath 8th June
Area 16 15th June
Lordsbridge 21st June
Area 35 22nd June
Area 42 29th June
Market Bosworth 6th July
Dorset Area 12th July
Ingliston 13th July
Hampshire Horse Show 20th July
Limes Farm 27th July

If so seems very unfair that there isn't even one to each area...

It might be worth while getting in touch with your area rep as they may be able to tell if there are any being held in your area

The reason there isn't one per area is because it's NOT an Area Final but a........REGIONAL FINAL

Thus there will be one per Region

Most regions are made up of 2 or 3 Area's...

It's stupid. They do it by 'region' i.e A,B,C etc rather than area. So there are 12 second rounds one for each region - you can only jump in your regional qualifier.

Although *I think* that you can write to the BSJA and ask to compete in a different region if you have good reason - like being on holiday whilst your qualifier is on or if the horse is based with a rider in a different reason etc..

They have changed the rules and you can now jump in your own and one other region - or it might be 2 regions.

And then you consider that only 1 horse per region will qualify in most regions so maybe 12-15 horses qualified in total and out of that maybe 10 will go to Scope. In the Newcomers and Foxhunter regionals 10 horses qualify to go to Scope.

The BSJA really values it grass roots riders that fund the sport as a whole.

No...just the one. The terms Regional Final and Second Round have become inter-changeable. In my day they were just called Regional Finals though.

CotswoldSJ - I can't help you with the BN or Disco RF's...I've only ever jumped a Foxhunter RF....and that was in 1984 I think

All I remember about it was that it was BIG.......no.....HUGE...and I had never jumped water before that day either. Got round for 4 faults though I think which I was pretty pleased with at the time

I've probably got some video of Spot doing the BN and Disc regionals if I can find it. He was a very unlucky horse. He came 3rd in one and 4th in the other the year they changed all the rules about how many qualify. The year before he would have got thru.

The other difference between NC/Fox and Dis/Bn is that you are allowed to enter 3 regionals for NC/Fox but only 2 for Dis/BN. How fair is that?

LOL! When I did the Fox one you were only allowed to jump one...and that had to be your local one unless you got approval from HQ to go elsewhere. I got permission to go out of region as my horse had been lame for my 'home' one....jumped it at Amersham Horse Show instead

My friend did the BN regional finals last year, she just did the one in her region as there was no point chasing it really with only 10-15 horses getting to the finals. Was biiig and the 3rd and final round really sorted the pros from the amateurs ....as usual.
