I'm so mad with myself. I've been doing all the right things trying to avoid laminitis this year, getting my horse's weight down, turnout at night only - muzzled at all times when grazing, and grazing is very restricted in terms of size - 30m by 10m fenced off.
I've been feeding only supplements: TS Antilam, mag ox, powdered joint supplement (TS 10:10) with the recent addition of Agnus Castus/ Chastetree berry. All fine. So I run out of joint supplement and head off to feed merchants where i allow myself to be recommended Equimins Liquid joint supplement as 'we've had loads of people comment on how well it seems to work' ... All fine except I forget to check that the ingredients are suspended in a GLUCOSE solution!
Am so cross with myself, I should have just waited and ordered more 10:10 from Top Spec.
Anyway my horse's pulses were pounding, and I found her lying down which she rarely does - great. She's now inside, on thick bedding, soaked hay, danilon etc, waiting for the farrier but I'm so mad with myself for not thinking straight - I've wasted £25 AND put my horse's life at risk. She did also get her muzzle off overnight - my husband found her at 5am and put it back on but it seems the combination of extra night grass and glucose has been too much.
