Stupid Pelham/lip Strap Question??

My Pelham hasn't got the small holes on the shank to attach a lip strap to, this is probably a very stupid question but can I still use a lip strap and how where/how should I attach it? The hooks for the curb chain aren't pinched at all and I'm worried that I will loose it. Many thanks

i'd pinch the hook on the offside with pliers so the chain can't come out (when you're sure it's at the correct link etc).

Good idea, I hadn't thought of that. The silly thing is that the curb chain has the extra middle link to thread the lip strap through but no rings on the shank and my rather heat befuddled brain thought I must have to use the lip strap because of it but couldn't think for the life of me how
