I realised just how long it must have been since I last did any grid work as I can't remeber how to stride!

If I want to do a few canter poles are they about 4 human strides apart?

Then if I want to do say 2 canter poles and an upright, how many human strides between the last canter pole and the upright? :S

Horse strides as he is 16.3 with a huge stride, covers the ground in no time really have to work on holding him together. Was thinking couple canter poles, then x pole, then say 1 stride upright, then 2 strides spread with v poles to get him centeral and tucking up nicely.

So canter poles 4 human strides apart then is it 6 human strides to 1st fence? Then 6 human strides 2nd fence, then 10 human strides 3rd?

Thank you :)

Erm, if I've read it right I think it would be 4 strides between the poles, 6 between the last pole and first fence, then 8 strides between the first and second fences (2 strides for take off and landing plus 4 for canter stride), then 12 between the second and third.
