So...I looked at a new yard yesterday and it's lovely! 5 mins from our house and amazing facilities and hacking...OH who is totally unhorsey even said I'd be crazy not to move there so I paid my holding deposit and we move in at the end of the month - yay!

Anywho...I thought I'd asked every question possible until this morning when it hit me that the website lists the livery cost as £130 per week (we live in Surrey before anyone comments about the price and as mentioned the facilities are well worth it!). Now I've worked out a monthly cost by multiplying the weekly cost by 52 weeks in a year and then dividing by 12, but a friend suggested they'd just charge at a four weekly rate. I'd normally just call the YO and ask but as it's mother's day I don't really want to bother her with something so silly. So does anyone know how this is likely to be charged as I've always just been quoted a monthly rate?

My yard is like that if i say i want to pay a month they do it as 4weeks,obv some months are longer though so i will tell them i want to pay 5 that month otherwise i end up getting the bill before my payday

Not a stupid question at all. I have known some yards do it the x52 /12 way, and others that bill 4-weekly, which isn't nearly so convenient. Your new yard could do it either way!
Good luck with the move!

Another possibility is that they might bill monthly, but have 4 and 5 week months. I used to be on a yard that did that and it's also how we paid when I was renting a field. I think it worked out that every third month was a five week month, or something like that.

I do as you have described. I charge on a calendar monthly basis, so weekly rate x 52 divided by 12. I would get totally lost doing it 4 weekly.

The yard I'm at currently do as you say so weeks into months, another yard I have been unfortunate to be at did it by the days of the month so changed every month.

I charge my liveries monthly by dividing the weekly rate by 7 and multiplying that by the number of days in the month in question as my livery charges vary summer to winter if the horses are out at night.

My yard allows us to pay as we wish - weekly, calendar monthly or every 4 weeks.

I pay x52 / 12
