As the weather has been so pants I decided to put rugs on my boys today.. nothing stupid about that but....

Got the smallest of the 2 out for Felix (The stallion) happily did it up and was pleased at how well it was fitting but then....... hmmm the leg straps were rather close to the 'crown jewells'!!!

Decided it wasn't worth risking gelding him accidentaly

so poor Tigs had to forfeit his nice horseware rug (Just X sircingles) for Felix to wear!!

and squeeze into size too small Masta!!

Having never had a stallion, i haven't a clue about this really lol.

Thanks for the replies... I know it was a bit of an odd one!!

So can I assume that most other stallion owners would only use a rugs with X surcingles and a fillet string then?!!

I must admit I don't even think about it until I put it on.. I'm glad I hadn't rushed out and bought a new rug for him!

i use landa rugs on my stallion no leg straps but a big tail end which covers all of his rear end and doesnt blow up.

I tend to remove all leg straps and turn one into a fillet string of all our horses, more comfortable for them IMO, never had a problem with them slipping or blowing off, mine go put everyday and live out 24/7 in summer.
