OK, please don't shoot me down in flames for my ignorance, but just wondering, can you travel a pony in brushing boots?

You can...but it's best not to for a couple of reasons;
1. Brushing boots are not designed for long term wear, and can rub/cause the horse's leg to retain heat.
2. Boots are normally put on for travelling to protect a pony's legs from injury - and a brushing boot doesn't protect the important parts such as the knee, fetlock joint and coronary band (which all seem prone to damage).
3. You'd be better travelling the pony in travel boots, and then popping the brushing boots on at the show/destination.

I can't think of a reason why not!!!
I find that travelling boots are too big and bulky. I've seen some nasty injuries where they have slipped down, undone etc.. Therefore mine travel without.
But yes if they are secure with no parts hanging off which could get caught on something!

Well I surpose yes you can, as there is no law against it.
but I'd put travel bandages or travel boots or if the pony doesn't like that nothing at all.

Some mixed answers there
He currently travels with nothing on his legs. I have travel boots but I find them big and bulky and awkward to get on and off plus he is not used to them.
As I put on brushing boots when I get to my destination anyway I was not sure if they would offer any protection / cause any damage if they were worn in the trailer. Plus they are easier to put on at home rather than at a show whilst trying to hold him too.
Given the mixed answers I'll probably stick with what I do for now!!

Depends how far you are going. If its 20 minutes away then if I were you i'd put brushing boots on. If any longer I would use travel boots or bandages (or nothing if you prefere it that way). Brusing boots are not designed to be worn for long periods of time, especially when the horse is standing still, hence I wouldn't use them on a long journey.

the brushing boots may leave areas exposed... if you won't use travel boots, perhaps consider using bell boots along with the brushing boots, so you protect the coronet band area as well

i was told by my old horses owner that she didt bother with travel boots cause my horse moves so much in the box they come loose and fall off ect so just used brushing boots, seem ok
