Stupid rude people

Yesterday, when we outting the horses out to graze, there were some people walking their dogs in the field.

I was nominated to go and tell them to clear off ( thanks friends :) ). So I politly just said to them ' were you aware this is private property?', I expected that they would just say sorry, that they did not realise, how niaeve of me.

I got a barage of abuse saying that it was not provate property!!!!!! how do they work that out?, I almost said did they want to see proff of purchase, and then proceeded to say that they were doing no harm, just as their dogs started to chase the horses!!!!, as I pointed out that their bloddy dogs were chasing the horses, one of them narrowly missed giving the dog a swift kick in the head, that proved my point and they cleared off.

Why are people to rude and stupid, I wonder if I got theie address if they would mind me going to their house and walking my dog in their garden, as far as I am concerned it is the same thing.
 
It makes me mad that people are always parking their cars in the gateway to our field and going off and walking their dogs. It means that we have to leave our car parked on the road. The gateway is wide enough to get a car in and leave access for the horses to get out but that should be our car not somebody else's. When challenged they usually say that they are parked to the side and not blocking the gate! Do they not understand that it is private property, they would be pretty mad if I left my car parked in their driveway. Its the same thing.
 
I'd leave a note on the car windscreen. Being polite but firm.

State that it is private property, they are causing an offence by blocking an access route. You have taken note of their car registration and if you find them blocking your private access again you will report them to local authority.
If you're so inclined I'd also add a map of places they can park/walk their dogs ;)

We've had to do this recently with people blocking our drive way at home. Parking around us is VERY tight ... but we still need to access our drive! Because it's behind high gates I'm not sure if people realise - but we have signs on the gate and they still pay no notice.
It's only by leaving notes on the cars that the same cars have stopped blocking it. We included in our note some additional local car parks they can get permits for (2-3 mins walk from the street) that they perhaps didn't know about and would provide a suitable alternative than parking half on pavement on a yellow line.
 
some people are unbelievable!

I know a yard where the fields back onto a row of houses, nice house but with tiny gardens. The fencing between the houses and the field i just post and rail. They got cross when they were asked to please stop their children going into the field with the horses and playing! they would fly kites, play ball, you name it! Fact is that the occupiers of that field are a few highly string arabs and a very riggy gelding!! As you can imagine the horses got upset by some of the antics! They didn't even care, they just continued. They said they didn't see the harm and then their reposnse was why cant they just rent us the field! Like that was the answer!! Err!! I think not! THEY went and bought a house with a tiny garden! Just because there is a field behind it does not grant you rights to it!
 
I once went out for a hack and came home to find someone had parked in my driveway with no room for me to get in. I had to wait on the road for 40mins till they got back from walking their dog. I pointed out the 'No Parking' and 'Keep this gateway clear signs' quite politely considering and just got a load of abuse as he got into his car and roared off!

Some people seem to go on the offensive when busted for being in the wrong. Makes them look as though they rhyme with bankers.
 
years ago we were working in Birmingham and someone had parked outside the gates of the building so we couldn't get out, despite signs etc - we wanted to go home after a long week and couldn't, and had no idea what to do. We phoned the police and to our astonishment, they came and took the car away on a low loader!

I would've loved to have seen the driver's face when they came back and found their car had gone.

Worst we've had is the local hunt trying to ride through our fields....WHILST ours were out in that field! Retards.
 
I used to live opposite a school in a busy part of London. Parents bringing their kids were always leaving their cars on our driveway, blocking in our own vehicles. I remember waiting 40 minutes for one parent to retrieve her car and when I politely pointed out that she had parked on private property and made me late for work she yelled 'But it is busy, where am I supposed to f-ing well park' I almost told her >vbg<

Recently we have had gates left open with sheep in them on several occasions. We put chain around the gate only to have it lifted off the hinges!!!!! WTF

Pony's field constantly has electric fence taken down.

There is a person who feels the right to roam! means leaving gates open and doing as one likes. I am a dog owner and am not rude and rarely stupid!

That's harsh. Most dog owners are responsible. There is only a select few that give other people a bad name. It is unfair to say that all dog owners are stupid and rude. We don't class all people as stupid and irresponsible because of a select few do we?

I do actually and I avoid other dog owners like the plauge, I have a "special needs" dog , he is agressive towards other dogs and has to be muzzled in public, I get accused of being cruel - I'm not I'm responsible, and we ALWAYS get some twonk who lets their out of control, total hooligan of a dog race upto mine and leap all over him, then the have the cheek to shout and screech at me when mine cops a strop - mine's on a lead BTW.

THEN to top it all off when we ride out on the horses we get told we shouldn't ride on the bridle paths as we make them muddy, we shouldn't park our box where we are entitled to park as we are "in their way" the let their hooligan mutts leap around the horses threatening to sue us if their muttbag shitehead dog gets a well deserved boot.....so yeah...I LOATHE dog owners.
 
Years ago when we had our shire horse a family parked their rather nice estate car in the gateway to his field (despite the 'please don't park here access needed' sign on the gate) while they went for a walk. The shire took matters into his own hands...or rather teeth....he picked a big branch and proceeded to batter the crap out of the roof of the car with it. Oops..

Whoa there, just a minute!! Most of the people on our yard have dogs, me included, and we're neither rude nor stupid.

I'm not condoning the actions of the people in the OP's post, in fact what they did was totally out of order, but please don't tar all dog owners with the same brush.

Yes, they came through our field WHILE we were there, pony went nuts and decided to join them and jump the hedge out with them too! Luckily he had a headcollar on and some nice person on the hunt managed to catch him!
 
Makes me sound about 92 but there was a Countryside Code that I was brought up to be aware of and it's still in existence and is updated regularly. I don't know whether it was through parents or school but I knew about closing gates, and being careful around livestock with dogs, etc, etc. I just don't think many people these days are aware of it, though most of it is just common sense.

Awesome I would have wet myself laughing!

I once took my boy out for a blast around the XC jumps we had in the woodland where of the grounds of where I lived, but way off any bridle paths/footpaths, working off some steam cam around a bend in a woodland track to find a family picnicing infront of one of my XC jumps, and proceeded to try to lecture me about being "irresponsible" and shouldnt I be more careful.
 
Country code I was taught a guides and brownies (I'm 23) went something along the lines of:

Never cross a fence/wall/boundry unless there is a gate.
Never go through a gate with private property/no entry on it.
Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.
If a gate is closed leave it closed, if a gate is open leave it open.
Stay on the footpath.
Specificaly NEVER walk across the middle of fields, stick to the margins.

The fourth is particularly important, not only when I was working at a riding school did we have eejits leave gates open but another set closed a gate between 2 fields trapping half the ponies in the top field with no water.
 
Next door to my mom's got sold and she repeatedly had to remove small red headed children from her conker tree.

On 1 occassion she said to the male small person, 'please don't play in my tree incase you get hurt' to which he replied 'it's not your tree, it's not your field'. My mom said, 'well, um, yes it is I'm afraid and I don't want you to get hurt in my field or frighten the sheep.' He told her 'my mom says it's spare land and I can tell you to leave me alone coz I'm not doing any damage'!!

My parents have owned the field coming up 20 years and it backs directly onto their garden and house. Mom had a word with his mother who didn't even deny telling him that!!

It's like bricks and gravel can belong to someone but not grass and trees, they are public property no matter how much someone pays for the space and how valuable the grass/crop is to them!

Love it!

I seem to be forever getting scumbags with their whippets / grey hounds off our land, they rarely close gates behind them and upset any livestock (cattle and sheep) that is in the fields. A couple of miles up the road is Scotland, so although what the scumbags are doing (hare coursing) is wrong, they would at least have the right to roam. The abuse I get when I point out they are tresspassing on private land is unbelievable, you'd think I was in the wrong!

BANKERS!!
