So I'm going to be showing my colt (soon to be gelding) in hand next year.

On his Passport his name was Pygmy, however I think it doesn't suit him so have renamed him Pygmy Samson, or Samson for short.

As for a show name I wanted something that actually related to his name so I thought:

Little Strongheart

Little as in Pygmy, and you might get the 'strong' heart if you've ever read the bible!

I told my husband and he laughed!

Do you think this is a stupid show name?

Whats your horses show name?

Whats the worst you've heard?

My ex husbund who showed welsh cobs, stallions and hunters was asked to show a pony called Rowfantina Fairy Plum. It was a riding pony in hand if I remember. Mind you I actually thought he looked quite at home!!!!

I don't think it's silly but then I like names like that :) :D

There was a horse at Harwood hall that used to have the show name ' Rolla joint':D

I don't really like it tbh :o I like having 'Little' and 'Strong' included in the name, but Strongheart is just too romantic for my taste xD

What about something like Little Lion, Sometimes Sam, Samwise? I love the name The Ill Made Knight, which is a name for Lancelot, but haven't yet had a chance to use it!!

I'm sorry I don't like the name!

I'm sure I remember reading somewhere over many years trawling forums about horses with names like "someones husband" (next is XYZ riding someones husband!)

Locally to me there was a Daddys Overdraft competing!

Not my ideal choice of a name but then again my lot have typical names for there breed sound posh and one is so common my friends call her a manboy - Kincardine Fiona and the other is Ella of Miltonglen. I want to call my future foal Devils advocate but ive been banned think it would stand out in the show ring.

Lol, pity, sounds good to me!!

I like Little Strong heart, Also Little Samson.

Mine is Magic Millbrook and we had a Salt Marsh Ragged Robin.

Can you just give a horse a show name or does it have to be on the passport? My big Daughters cob is called Almera - its a bit of a pants name and it doesnt suit her. We call her Big Al or Meery at home. Big D would like to call her 'The Iron Lady' for shows, and that does suit her (she is grey).

We always joke and say if we had a race horse 'Touching Cloth' would be a good name (though rather bad taste!)

I rather like it and remember its all down to personal taste and only you know if it suits the horse, i think you need to see a horse in the flesh and moving to see if a name suits it if you know what i mean.
