Well I'll be the first to admit I have a feisty little mare and she isnt the brightest of ponies... Though she's never put me in danger she does do some thick things.
Yesterday she spotted a White chair fall over...and instead of just spooking like a normal pony would. She turned around and jumped up a bank to get away from it...(right next to the non intentional jump there is a path she could have shot up). Little mares 22 and been back into work 3days...not the cleverest of things to do. So anyone else got a pony/horse who isn't dangerous...but just is prone to being abit ...stupid.

I dont know if this is stupid or just funny..........

I once caught my mare chasing her field partner around the field with a stick in her mouth hitting the other horse on the bum!!!! :D

hacking out this morning on taz, we were going down the track when he threw a right old wobbly, full on jumped out of his skin and ran backwards snorting, at a fallen branch... which has been there for the last 20 times we have hacked down there with out a problem... i think the man running up the hill was a bit confused when he saw a 17.2hh chestnut having a mental breakdown in the middle of the path :o

I was walking down the road on a pony. There was a bike going towards us and a car, which was behind us. A pony spooked of a bike and jumped straight in front of a car. Fortunately, the driver was a horsey man and he was prepared for this. He stopped a car in ideal moment. That was soooo scary!
Situation like this happened few times on different horses. I wonder, do the horse really prefer to be run over a car than a bike, or while it spooks it doesn't know, what's going on around?

I've had a situation like that with my mare. I don't take her on the roads anymore since she can't be trusted. She's scared of grids...god knows why. But we were walking down the road and she suddenly spotted a water grid...she jumped out infront of a car on the opposite side of the road and luckily the guy stopped quick enough. But all I remember seeing was how shocked the guys face was. She then jumped onto the pavement and jogged home. Which was luckily only 2minutes away. So...yeah shes banned from the roads, which is alright since we have a 5mile farm ride on the yards land so hacking isn't sacrificed!

Oh soooooooooo many things! :p :D
I think maybe the most memorable was the time he jumped out of field, bolted down the track heading towards his stable and me in the american barn which is the other side of the car park. Someone decided upon seeing him coming down the track that shutting the gate to the carpark would be a good idea so he gets to gate cant get through so goes back and into the full muck heap next to the gate, and climbs it! I hear the commotion and pop out of barn to see my horse 6ft up in the air about to launch himself straight down a la derby bank  He sees me and ears prick like 'ah there you are mum, was coming to find ya, some retards shut gate though so thought I'd come this way' Oh god thinks I! Flashing through my head are images of shattered legs and broken bones! One leg goes over the drop preparing for the leap....'NO, STOP, STAND STAY RIGHT THERE DO NOT MOVE, STAND, STAND, STAND' Leg retreats and he stands there like 'why? ok ok I'm standing, ya coming to get me?' I get through gate all the while shouting STAND and climb up next to him (which gave me vertigo! no derby banks for me!) and backed him down. He was cool as a cucumber and all pleased to see me, I was shaking! Stoopid horse!

My horse frequently scares himself witless by farting loudly! and if he is out he'll bolt from the nasty loud explosion coming from just behind him. Trouble is, he does it daily and still hasn't learnt the relationship between breaking wind and loud noise.

Not my horse, but the neighbour and not so much stupid as funny.

I was tacking my mare up outside of her stable which is an American barn system. All of a sudden as I was trying to tighten the girth she flew sideways, then up off all fours. I told her off as she would not stand still and I had another go. Again though, she shot away and then snorted crossly. I smacked her, growled, then looked up.

The black cob gelding next door had his forelock hanging over his face and he peaked his cheeky black eyes out from underneath it. He was also waveing my stick that he had pinched from my rack and was holding it from the handle end straight out at my mare and was wiggleing it in his teeth. He had been whacking my poor mare with it!
Caught red handed, I shouted his name and he immediatly dropped it onto his stable floor and gave me a look which said,

"WHAT??" Not me, nuffink!!

He loves to rob my stuff.

Always makes me smile just thinking about it.:D

I wish this thread had a topic "stupid and clever things my horse did" ;)
I was schooling my horse. Suddenly I saw a mare going on her own out of the stable (she used to open the door of her box all the time - none of the locks and clips worked longer than a week!) I shouted somebody to catch her. Meanwhile she went straight to the paddock gate, opened it, went into the paddock, and then... she turned around and shut the gate :D She turned out herself :D I wish all the horses could do that.

I was on a hack with a friend and I was in front.

Bumbling along the road quite happily, a farmer was coming towards us in his Land Rover with a flat bed behind him. He slowed right down :).

At this point, my little mare decided to launch herself off all 4 feet and jump in the puddle in front of her and carry on walking as if nothing had happened.
Horse behind was stunned and farmer was tickled pink :D, giggling away as he drove on :D:D.

Friend and I were tittering away for ages :o:D.

Not my own, but I help out at the stables..

At one stables, there was a grey who spooked at ANYTHING white

At my current stables I hired a welshie-type to do one of the shows, I brought all my stuff in a rucksack as easy to carry, said pony is bored with standing there being groomed, he picks up rucksack with my brushes and clean boots and things in and chucks it in his water bucket!!

Just yesterday I tried out a horse who was a little bit lazy. He stopped dead in front of the jump (my fault, I was riding forwards but he needed more encouragement than I thought!) and then I put my leg on him and was just about to turn him round when he stepped his legs up over the first pole and so then stood with his front legs between the 2 poles making up the spread?! :D Was quite amusing. Not entirely sure how it happened either! :p xx

Echo spooked and jumped at the sound of his fart last week and then the more he jumped the more he farted the more he spooked - lastest a couple of minutes was really funny :p

The boys like to play bite my bum games - one bites others bum then chase - bit like horse tag using a bite to tag them!

Had to take Fire Hydrant away as T would play with it and roll it on floor.

Also, have to tie her up away from stable as she puts the kick bolt on while I'm in.

Same pony took off out of arena, into stable block and skidded to a stop just before hitting wall.

Clever pony though: used to open gate and all horses would come in and go to their own stables. She was bottom of pecking order so ended up last. One day, opened the gate, a bird scarer went off and the horses all shot back up the field and none of them would come down. Cue my pony pacing at the back, clearly wanting breakfast.
She then cantered up to the top, jumped over a 3 feet XC jump, cantered down the opposite field, popped over another jump and proudly stood at gate waiting to be let in! Got her breakfast first and other horses FINALLY moved and came in. :D Little 5 yr old showing all the 15-25yr olds up :D:D:D

Not my own horse, but a horse that I ride. Joey thinks he's a very handsome boy and at a show, we were beside a VERY shiny trailer that had a reflection like a mirror. Joe is looking and genuinely posing in various difference stances infront of the trailer before shouting at his mirror image proceeding to lick it.. :o

My mum's Arab mare who was scared of water once spooked at her own wee when she got caught short facing downhill on the lane! She was dancing on the spot but couldn't get away as she was mid flow lol

My first horse undid his stable bolt and escaped one night and found a bucket of old motor oil from the tractor. He stuck his nose in it and went to say hello to every horse on the yard smearing all the horses and everything else with it as he went. I was very popular the next morning and bought a snap hook for the stable bolt.

My horse pooed on my shoulder when I was picking out his back feet...
