Succeed Digestive Condition Program ??

Opinions vary on the product itself. In terms of the test, it's claimed to diagnose hind gut ulceration, rather than gastric ulceration (which is what you'd see with a scope). The effectiveness and accuracy of the faecal blood tests though are severely doubted: firstly it relies on ulceration being so bad it's bleeding, and secondly it relies on the sample used having evidence of the bleed in it. Hind gut discomfort can be of various degrees, many cases wouldn't result in blood being detectable... Symptomatic diagnosis seems to be used more often, there are quite a lot of threads if you search and quite a lot around online now too which might help.

It's a bit of a minefield to be honest, but having been around the block with gastric ulcers and hind gut discomfort too, I strongly believe they're two different issues which very often co-exist but need treating separately and in different ways...
 
After a scope,am 3/4 of way thru a month's Succeed trial (1xsyringe per day,from vet) at mo. Has made no diff whatsoever to my boy's girthiness. (He has no other symptoms.)
 
I have a horse that i has been battling with ulcers (hindgut) for over a year. We have used the fecal test twice and it came back positive and marginal. The specialist referral vet that we see is sceptical about the test, but also the sample has to be analysed within about 4-6 hours. Therfore it still means a trip to the specialist 2 hours away, so we scope & scan instead for a more definative diagnosis.

I haven't tried the nutritional programme though.
 
Another one here unsuccessfully treating symptoms.

It's very frustrating. We are currently trying hay/forage only to see what happens. We've previously done 3 months of abler omeprazole, then egusin SLH, then charcoal + prebiotic. All show initial improvement which tails off after 2 weeks & then we go all the way back to sq 1.

I'm sure it's hind gut as he keeps stopping & putting his tail up as if he's windy. He will work slightly more fwd if he does a poo.

Was considering succeed, but we're trying forage only first as I'm fed up with trying expensive supplements.

One thing's for sure, the first company to market something which definitely always works on both hind gut discomfort and gastric ulceration will make a killing!!

PS have you tried Ron Fields Nutrition Ulcerex-Plus? Sounds and looks a bit random, but it certainly helped my mare's hind gut discomfort... If the forage-only thing doesn't work, worth a try?
 
Nope, that's one I haven't even heard of! Will have a look.

It's such a frustrating problem. I'm *sure* it's that because he feels to me how I feel when I've had too much coffee & given myself digestive discomfort. I know myself that when it goes, all of a sudden I feel back to normal, which is exactly what happens to him when a product is having its window of working.

They do say that you need to feed it for at least 3 months to get the full benefits.

I saw a difference in my girl after 3 weeks on it (only little things at first) She's now been on it for 3 months and looks amazing - she's out of work (not ulcer related) but has a fabulous topline (something she's always lacked), beautiful shiney coat, her mane and tail are growing at a ridiculous rate and her feet have improved.

It expensive but I am getting mine on insurance.
