Thank goodness for a bit of good news and success when everything on the yard seems to be going down the pan on one front or another.
On Sunday we took our ex hurdler Alfie to a RC qualifier for a championship in June 2011. He was in the senior team. It was his first comp, and he'd only done xc schooling twice and to be honest we didn't have high hopes as he can be nappy (we'd taken along his stable mate for another class) and can just plant himself if he gets anxious.
Anyhow, lots of worrying over nothing, as he was a superstar! (Which was just as well since he was for some reason by far the biggest horse there and did seem to draw attention to himself!)
.
First round was sj - he had one pole down but we were chuffed with that (only started sj in July) as he kept his focus and then headed off round the xc, away from the lorry park, and took it all in his stride going clear.
The team came 1st and has qualified, and within the team he had the second best score, which overall would have got him 7th (I think) as an individual.
So a really chuffing good day out, with lovely weather, and some really fab RC people who welcomed us with open arms - explaining how it all works etc. Big thanks to everyone for their support, and well done team RVRC!
(I have ordered this photo so hope its all right to use this one with copyright)
