For all those wondering about B suddenly not wanting to go in the car!
Mum has been feeding him in there and I have been doing things like leaving the boot open and asking him to pop in and out for no reason and rewarding him, throwing his ball in there, taking a big long run at it like it was a jump, etc, lots of praise, lots of fuss when he does it without being anxious.
Mum is away all week so I have borrowed her bootliner so hopefully that will put a stop to the digging on longer journeys - Sunday will be the acid test.

Now for the little one - I had her at the vet today and as I suspected, she is having a phantom pregnancy.
I have spoken to Mum and we have agreed to have her spayed as this may continue and leave her exposed to pyometra.
While she was bought as a breeding prospect, we knew quite early on she wasn't going to cut it, unless she had a personality transplant and grew a few inches

Oh thanks for this Cave Canem - I posted earlier for an update! I hope everything continues for Car Case Mutt, but sorry to hear about little one.
 
Thanks! Hoping he will settle down for Sunday (45 mins each way) , just been doing short journeys with him and like I say, the boot tray thing should stop him digging.

) I've had a female with a pyometra before and it was horrible, I want to spare her that.
 
You made the right decision CaveCanem, but I guess that doesn't make it much easier.

I know what you mean about finally making the decision. When I eventually had Buffy spayed (at 6 years old, and with bad hips so was never going to be bred from) it still was sad somehow, particularly as that was the end of my line. However the other side of the coin, Evie is yet again having a very heavy season and although it is still my intention to breed from her at some point my neurotic side is already beginning to worry about future problems

MM, no one is going to have worse luck than us - I was thinking about it earlier - our kennel was established in 1972. We have had three litters, one was an accident, one went well, one was on breeder's terms and our name wasn't even on it.
And the fourth, they all died.

Maybe one day......

Thanks, they are both looking well at the mo, despite shedding like mad - we are lucky to have the beach ten minutes away. We also have holiday accommodation if Popple is interested

I worked out it was a child with her, which is why I originally went for your sable bitch (sorry was she Juno I forget), however she actually has a real look of your 2 hasn't she? Glad to hear you are ensnaring more youngsters into GSD obsession

Hurray!!!!

He was great today, tried to dig once but when he found the boot liner tray he gave up.
Is still a bit hesitant to jump in initially, but, ahem, half an hour of constant heelwork in the rain made him realise what side his bread was buttered on and he was glad to get back to his blankies and towels

Ironically, unlike last week when he was perfect, he and his training partner Red were both little sh!ts today, you win some, you lose some
