Some time ago I was recommended 'The Classical Seat', by Sylvia Loch (on here, I think) as the most helpful book re. riding position. Well, I have just re-read it and taken on board some of the advice.

Wow! I tried out what she advised during my lesson yesterday - and what a difference! OH (non-horsey) was there and said he could really see I was more 'upright' and Hugo was going much more forward. Even my instructor (usually quite negative :p) was full of praise for both of us!!

Admitedly, Hugo has been filling in this week for one of the school horses who is on 'sick leave' and has been worked a lot, (and had some hacks out). So he has really started to understand his job. But I do think my 'seat' made a difference!

But BOY, do my glutes ache today ;)

Anyone else found this book helpful?

Glad you found it useful - it's one of my "textbooks" since learning to ride again after a 10year break over 10 years ago :) if ever I get stuck... I always get it back out.

Oooh that's interesting to hear.....

My position is really bugging me at the moment....naughty right shoulder and dead baby neck!

Think I might look into that, thanks!!
