Such a good idea?

I plan to go see my horses on christmas morning, im not cooking this year so can spend a bit of time with them.

I was going to bring them a haynet filled with fruit and veg, is this a wise idea? Could they injure themselves in any way or am i just being an overprotective mummy again.
 
They do get some fruit and veg, wasnt going to pack the haynet, just thought in a haynet it would last them that bit longer.
 
Jed gets christmas pudding (a chocolate one though not the real thing) he loves it!

They get their haylage in their hayrack but for the day im going to put some of it in the haynet.

Its just that im going to be up around 6-7am, by the time i get up again is going to be around 7-8pm, thats the longest that they will have gone without seeing me during the day.
 
I thread fruit and veg onto a peice of baler twine and hang it from the roof so they have to catch it - keeps them entertained for hours! Bit like a lickit on a string but with things like apples, carrots and suede

Did that with mae before but she was very sly and managed to eat it quickly. Ive a tongue twister in her stable but she doesnt eat the likit treats!!!

Yeap found something mae doesnt eat lol
 
too much acidic fruit (apples etc) can give colic, i think. mine will get lots of extra polos, an apple each, maybe a pear each, and a few carrots.
i wouldn't give them anything drastically different, personally, although i know lots of people who give their horses Guinness in their feed on Christmas Day!
 
I was planning on the full turkey works for mine, plus all the trimmings, party hats and a game of twister......do you think thats a step too far? Should I bin the twister?
