2 days ago our black n tan JRT had a few spots...followed by a VERY swollen face! In fact she looked more like a Staffy! Our vet who happens to live nxt dr recommended Hay Fever remedy but she returned to normal very quickly so we left it. Now her daughter has done the same thing and has spots on top of her head and randomly scattered over her body. She is itchy so have administered the hay fever tablet......would this be a plant or insect issue...poor little thing has lots of hives now! Any suggestions welcome.

Definate allergic reaction, nettles, wasps, bees, any nest they could have been rutting in?
Piriton on hand and given regularly and accurate dose at sign of symptoms, and for the hives a cold shower is fab for cooling them down and reducing swelling and itching.
If swelling affects nose/mouth/breathing then vet asap, otherwise try and manage with the above.:)

Our little jr puppy had this 2 days ago! Just back from a walk and all ok, ten mins later huge swollen head and muzzle, even her eyes were swollen shut. I was worried her airway may swell to took her to vets. He anti histamine injection and a steroid injection. Most of the swelling was gone he next morning. She had a piriton and by the afternoon back to normal. Vet thought maybe a wasp sting on the face.
