Mare came in from the field fine, was stabled for approx 2 hours before coming out of the stable dog lame in both fronts.
Immediatley suspected abscess - but on further inspection shoe had slipped. Also had some heat in hoof/leg with slight swelling. Farrier came out following morning who couldnt find any abscess, only a slight bruise on the frog. Left shoe off and have poulticed for a few days incase something a bit higher up in hoof etc. Nothing to report so far, farrier due back tomorrow!
Have kept horse stabled and whilst foot with bruised frog appears better, the other is still approx 5/6 tenths lame.
Just wondering whether I'm right to still be suspecting abscess or whether to be more worried!!
