As above.

Mare came in from the field fine, was stabled for approx 2 hours before coming out of the stable dog lame in both fronts.

Immediatley suspected abscess - but on further inspection shoe had slipped. Also had some heat in hoof/leg with slight swelling. Farrier came out following morning who couldnt find any abscess, only a slight bruise on the frog. Left shoe off and have poulticed for a few days incase something a bit higher up in hoof etc. Nothing to report so far, farrier due back tomorrow!

Have kept horse stabled and whilst foot with bruised frog appears better, the other is still approx 5/6 tenths lame.

Just wondering whether I'm right to still be suspecting abscess or whether to be more worried!!

I immediatley thought this also, but hoped that farrier would've spotted/assisted in that department?! If theres any further cause for concern tomorrow the vet will be straight out!

My mare came in lame last Thursday afternoon after being perfectly okay at lunchtime. Vet came out on Friday and diagnosed suspected laminitis. Awaiting result of cushings test now, two weeks box rest and bute. On the plus side her passport has been seen to and she is now removed from the food chain!!

Thankyou, hopefully I'll be a bit more in the know as of tomorrow morning then, with a vet potentially back out again! 3 years of near constant vet issues, thats got to be a record right!?

Was also removed from the food chain last week!! Every cloud!

It sounds to me like she had an accident. The shoe has 'slipped' and there is swelling on one of the legs. Not really the time of year for laminitis particularly if you exercise your horse regularly. If it is laminitis in both front feet then she'll be sitting back on his hocks. Sounds to me more like a torn muscle if she is standing normally and only expresses problems when moving.
