Does anyone have an opinion on the above? Not for me, but my friend has been offered one which she's considering (£700 dressage) and she doesn't really know that much about the make. Thanks.
I think used at that price its probably good value. I have only seen one in use, otherwise seen what's on their tradestand. The saddle was nice enough (but not for the new price ) but Sue herself had not been able to get it to REALLY fit on a very wide flat back. I think they mainly come with Flair which some horses (and riders) don't get on with, some do of course.
Hi SBloom. Her horse is a TB X - it is a FLAIR saddle. How much are they new - do you know? Are there any construction issues, because someone else has said to her that they are not of a very good build quality, even though they look quite glam.
I would not touch with a bargepole! The quality and workmanship is appauling, and the aftercare service non existant. The airbags in mine all moved to the back, and my poor horse had to have over 6 months off, and an alot of chiro treatment before I could go near putting a saddle back on him. Ever since he has been difficult to tack up, and very quirky to get on, due to him remebering the pain. I took me alot of phonecalls and arguments before I could get SC herself to come have a look at my saddle. She then told me the airbags had moved as they didn't fit the saddle, and it would be £300 to repair it. This saddle was 18 months old, and TBH if they didn't fit the saddle surely that is SC's fault not mine???
If you do a search for Sue Carson on here you will fine my original threads giving the full story.
Charlimouse that's dreadful. How long ago was that?
Based on that price that sbloom experienced, if this one my mate is looking at is £700 it must be pretty old I guess so there wouldn't be any after sales anyway. I haven't seen it - and I must admit I've never heard of the make.
That was 2 and a bit years ago. My horse reared over twice on top of be due to the issues caused by this saddle! If you search on here there are a fair few unhappy customers.......
Yes, I've had a quick look and I know what you mean. Mind, there also seem to be some happy customers. I suppose the question is does this make recieve any worse press than the well known brands - as in, did they go through a "bad period" but perhaps have upped their game recently? Thanks anyway - will show this thread to my mate.
I was nearly a customer but I got SC on the phone herself and she was a very snotty, rude individual.
The saddles are nothing special either. £700 is a lot of money regardless of what its original price was so I think your friend is better off with something else....
Really Speighty? How long ago was that - do you know?
It interests me - as someone that is far from expert in saddles - that it must be quite a gamble to just set yourself up as a new saddle brand. I mean, I know even the tried and the trusted will have their bad days, but surely it's such a competetive and extremely technical market, that it's going to take you a helluva time to establish your reputation. I have to admit that for such an important and expensive purchasem, I would have more confidence with a brand that I know - and again I stress - yes, even they have their bad days.
Sue has been in business for quite a few years and is well known in certain circles. Yes it is high risk setting up a new brand, I'm about to do just that, and am very nervous (I will still be fitting for NP)! But there are niche brands that do their job better than some of the bigguns - if you have an indication of quality and customer service then they're always worth looking at. Albion was a small company called something else originally....we all have to grow from somewhere!
That's very true sbloom - and the very best of luck with your new endeavour. Nervous I can imagine, but also very exciting to be starting something new!!
It IS!
I have designed new products and am designing a poll pressure free bridle, it takes alot of thinking and experimenting time which of course you don't get paid for as well as loads of new raw materials which don't grow on trees but if you want a new product out there in the mainstream it's a small price to pay!
Good luck sbloom, if you need a hand and I can help, just shout!
