Woohoo!!! Between them, my boss and my local tackshop owner have managed to find a dinky little suede saddle pad for my kid's pony. It's actually JUST what I was after... So BIG thankyou to them

It's a little dirty, probably been sitting about for a while, so needs a spruce up (though I can already see that with a spruce up it'll be gorgeous and be just the ticket for those LR and M&M classes... ).

One person suggested a 'copper' suede brush, and another suggested a 'rubber' suede brush. Which do I use?? Is there anything else I can use on it? Is hot water a big no no??

any advice would be gratefully recieved....

Tweenie has a Farrington's WH Pony saddle. That has suede seat and knee rolls. I hate it!

Actually, that's a bit inaccurate. We LOVE the saddle but it's a fair weather saddle. The security of the suede was lost by the fact it spent more time under a waterproof saddle cover!

I actually use a horse face brush on it. Once the pile has gone "shiny" I'm not sure what can be done to bring it back "up", if that is the problem you've got.

I was told to use a copper brush on it, have started to do so, and it's got rid of the shinyness and got the pile back up then my mother walked ina nd said "nooo... you need to be using a rubber brush!!"

I can't imagine daring to take a copper brush to a £700 saddle.....but hey, if it works I might give it a go when the necessity arises.

They're the soft copper obrushes for shoe cleaning...

Thank God this saddle didnt cost me £700 lol, mind you I still wouldnt want to wreck it.

By the time we'd got a bridle to match, leathers, girth and stirrup irons we'd spent almost twice as much as the pony cost. Go figure!

hmm, that sounds better. I need something that will get into the suede and bring the pile back up . Thought i might try using the soft brush on my hoover to get the dust out...

I have a suede show saddle, i dont think you can do anything where the leathers meet the saddle as it go's quite shinny. I managed to find a little block which is used to clean the suede and it buffs it up quite nice, ( just found it ), its called suede and nubuck revitaliser and is made by Carr and day and martin ltd their phone number is 01625 539135, it cost £1.65 and i have had it years!
