How long do you need to soak it for?

And how long can you use it for after is been soaked? Like if you don't use all that you've soaked at once can you use it a day or two later or do you have to soak more?

Have got used to Speedibeet and now am back on Sugarbeet have been soaking it for 24hours and using it over a couple of days.

That sounds about right! soak it 24hrs and use in a couple of days. Sugar beet gets a really ransid smell once it has gone off so its easy to tell when you need to chuck it!!

I prefer speedibeet, 10 mins and done!! No stinky gone off beet and no waiting!!

I use speedibeat now so am having to delve into the depths of my memory!! When I used sugarbeet I often made up a load and used it over a couple of days. Providing it is in a cool place it should be ok. It does have a really bad smell when it goes off so you should know pretty much straight off if it is ok or not. In the summer I had to make it as I needed it as it really didn't keep.

Ah thats ok then! Yer we do usually have Speedibeet but they didn't have any in the shop so got Sugarbeet instead. And yes i have noticed both Speedi and Sugar beet go furry in the hot weather in the Summer - Yuck!! When we first mixed it up the other night there were swarms of tiny little flies EVERYWHERE!! Was swatting them with a feed scoop although they seem to have diminished in numbers now thank god!

Our yard still uses sugarbeet instead on speedibeet (they order in all the feeds then we pay less so its there decision and I dont mind) 24 hours is fine, and 2 days is fine as long as it isnt really hot! As said above you will smell if it is off it is a horrible smell

depends if pellets or shreds 24 hr pellets and 12 hr for shreds. i've have pellets for a few weeks and i've found if i don't use them on the first day they smell like vinegar. gone back on speedibeet now.

I was told that sugarbeet pellets should be soaked for 24 hours.

It must not be mixed with feed until you are ready to feed your horse as it will start to ferment.

Also you need to use sugarbeet within the day as it will also start to ferment and will be bad for the horse to eat.

This may be an old fashioned theory that has since changed. But I always go by this, just in case. I mix up just enough for one feed morning and night.

Sugar beet pellets do need to be soaked for 24 hours. Sugarbeet does start to ferment after a period of time but it needs warmth to do so. During the depths of winter it takes several days to go off but during summer I suspect it will be fairly rank after 24 hours. I dont feed it in summer for this reason.

I have never heard of it fermenting in feed though.
