Hi all,
Having three podges..who need to kepp an eye on their waistlines...is there anyone on here that can advise as to when the sugars/fructans are highest in grass during daylight hours?
I have trawled the interweb (even the Lami trust website) and there doesn't seem to be much out there with regard to when sugar is at it's highest in the grass.
My lot are on VERY short...almost baise type grazing..and I keep them in from 7 am until 7 pm...but it would just be good to know.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Bryndy:)

sugar levels in grass tend to peak at midday. also, short grass is not necessarily better for lami ponies as often has a higher level of concentrated sugars because its mostly new shoots coming through (so similar to a spring flush)

I've always read that mid-morning was OK, so I bring mine in before 11 and turn them out around 7.
