My horse is very well behaved- He schools fine and hacks on roads fine but I need a little bit more if we go cantering through open fields. Its especially important if im with my daughter or certain friends as mine is the "quiet" one and I often need to stay behind which at times is easier said than done especially right now as he's apparently feeling amazing
Like I say its not manners but realistically he's a big horse and I'm a smallish lady, we often have comments he'd be better suited to a man!
Before he was mine he was ridden in a 3 ring gag and flash. Ive currently got him in a cavesson and loose ring French snaffle which works perfectly 95% of the time.
Ive still got his gag but am a little hesitant to use it. Firstly is a single jointed bit which im not keen on but also I just dislike the huge lumps of metal, they look so untidy and harsh. Id also prefer something with copper or a warmer metal.
Im very light with my hands so have no qualms about a stronger bit- It will only be as strong as needed.
This has been suggested as something we know works, is copper, double jointed and looks a little smaller/neater!
