How many people would bd interested in a tack/riding wear party?

We all go to or have been to Ann Summers, Body Shop, Christmas card/present and clothes parties but who would actually be interested in a tack/equestrian clothing/yard equipment party? To be held at your own house or yard during the summer. A little business idea I have right now.
 
I like the idea, they are very fashionable at the moment.
However horsey ones would be a bit less "glam"?
I think it would be a great idea though, keep us updated if anything comes of it!
 
I think it could work, especially if you targeted riding schools/livery yards with lots of owners. Worth doing research at yards in your area.
 
Am glad you al agree. I go to body shop parties and it completly confusses me lol Im the horsey girl who dosent really do cosmetics or girlie girl stuff so a horsey party is so me, didnt know if I was alone! lol
 
I think it'd be a brill idea providing you have enough people in the area interested. Would be a good night I think. You could organise a yard night, or get a few yards together on the same night, people can make new friends etc
 
I've been to one - there is someone round here that sells tack and horsey clothes and people hold parties for her - not sure we bought much, but the wine went down well!
 
Do you have any equestrian colleges near you? Students often don't have much money to spend but they do come in large numbers and have friends! Also, contact your local riding clubs - everyone loves a social evening based around a common interest.
 
Coming at this from a slightly different angle...

I run these parties (not horsey ones) as part of my job. They are a fab way to make money and meet people at the same time!

Just a few things to bear in mind:

- Are you able to get the goods cheap enough to make a decent profit? Taking into account delivery as presumably people will place orders on the night? Plus everything I'm about to mention below...
- We often do games where things can be won, you could perhaps use horse treats, magic gloves, something like that. Gets everyone a bit more involved.
- Provide wine, and non alcoholic drinks for non drinkers, kids, drivers, etc. People buy more after a glass of wine in my experience

- Will you be in a position to offer returns on items? Presumably you will not be buying in a lot of stock beforehand, so be aware that people may order things that they find do not fit and it'd be up to you, as the "distributor", to deal with any returns. Make sure you can afford to deal with the returns and that the timescales and conditions of return are clear.
- Have a little speech prepared to market each item, and be prepared for any questions.

If you've taken all of the above into account and can still make a comfortable profit (can you get the goods wholesale?), then go for it. I really enjoy doing the parties and if you've got a little business plan in mind they're a great way to start a little customer base - provided you look after those customers

I too have been to one run by a local tack shop. I enjoyed it but found there wasn't much suitable for my horse...she was huge in rugs etc.

They seemed to fizzle out though as I never heard of another one. Good idea though if you can get the stuff cheap enough. Theirs worked as it was their shop stock so what didn't sell went back into the shop.
